October 2013 Favourites

So the time has rolled around again to do my monthly favourites for October.  As I always go away in October I generally have a whole bunch of new 'toys' to play with upon my return so my next few monthly favourites should be good ones with fresh new products.

I kinda feel like I cheated this month as I included two products that I bought whilst I was in the States.  In some respects I don't like mentioning things you can't get in the UK as I know I have alot of UK followers but on the flip side my US & Canadian followers may find new products and if you really do think you adore the sound of the item, you may even be able to find an US eBay seller that you can buy from.

As usual I have my favourites as a video - CLICK HERE

One thing I didn't mention in the video is that when I first purchased the Maybelline Color Tattoo in 'Inked In Pink' I didn't fall immediately in love with it.  Usually I wear my MAC Painterly Paint Pot regardless of what colour I use on top but recently I've noticed it feels really dry on my eyelids, I am close to the end of the pot and perhaps this is the reason.   Anyway, when I first applied it to my hand the colour was stunning and pretty pigmented but when I put it on my eyelids it was difficult to get the colour to cover them evenly.  It's hard to describe but it just didn't feel right.   I kept trying throughout the holiday and eventually I realised it was my make up application underneath it wasn't working well with.  Basically my routine is to apply my foundation, then under eye concealer which I will blend onto the lid too.  I will then set it with a translucent powder.  Once that's done I will then apply my Paint Pot (or in this case, the Color Tattoo) and then my eyeshadow.  This probably sounds like a lengthy process to some but to me it's always been fine when using Painterly.  It seems that the combination of liquid, powder and then liquid doesn't work so now I only put the powder underneath to help it last longer and the Color Tattoo glides on with ease - problem solved!
