Slim Down Sunday: Week 42

This is the week of the confession, I've taken my eye off the ball for longer than I should have.

Firstly obviously it's Monday so apologies for the delay on my usual Sunday post but if you follow my Facebook page you'll know that yesterday I was representing Lecente at Creative Academy+ Manchester's Show-A-Thon and I was absolutely knackered last night and certainly not in the right frame of mind to put a blog post together.

Let's go back to my confession which is more to admit to myself if I'm honest.  I've been so focussed on weight loss for so long that it became routine for me and I found it easy if I'm honest.  The only thing is more recently I've had a lot on my mind and I'm slipped more and more into old habits which I hate to admit.  Its partially due to being happier with my size, some to do with current emotions and the rest to do with the fact I'm greedy.

If you've followed me throughout this journey you'll know I lost five stone and 5lbs in seven months and then I've virtually just faffed about for the past two months with the last month getting totally out of control.  I've weighed myself this morning and I have put on nearly a stone - there we go - I've said it.  I told you I was greedy.  I'm a little annoyed with myself for losing my way but I'm not 19 stone 5lbs again so it's okay, if I work hard this will take about a month to lose and that's fine as I did this to myself.

It's my birthday on Thursday and I'm away overnight so I can't promise that I will start to lose this extra chub this week but I will promise to carry on these blog posts until I am ready to get back on it.

  • Every day we have a choice, it's a fresh start and the most important part from any healthy eating plan is to just try and make as many days, good ones.
  • Losing a pound a week is still over three and a half stone in a year.
  • If you're feeling particularly down about your weight, remember that if you stick to a balanced diet then by this time next week you could have dropped quite a few pounds, just the kick start you need to get going!  Even just by cutting down on treats you could make a difference, how good would that feel?!

Slim Down Sunday: Week 41

Well the struggle continues.  My head wants to be slim and I think there's a part of me that is really enjoying my current figure so I'm getting a little bit lacks with it although I acknowledge I could definitely be happier a lot thinner - I certainly do have a way to go.  It's such an ongoing daily battle between wanting to be slim and some days I will manage to keep within my calorie count until the evening time and then I'll go mad and eat all kinds, it's ridiculous and frustrating.  On the rare occasion I will manage the full day but of course, it's is the rare occasion I am no longer losing weight and either staying the same or slowly gaining it.

It's easy to get really down about the fact I have been at virtual standstill for weeks with my weight loss but that's not going to help so in my mind I just try to be conscious of what's going on.  The last thing I want to do is stop weighing myself completely because ignorance is definitely not bliss and before I know it I will be close to where I started again and I refuse to let that happen.

Some days I try to make healthier choices without actively counting calories, those days help me mentally as it takes the calorie counting focus away and brings it more to just eating a little more sensibly compared to the days where I can binge on food.

I will tell you that today I weighed myself. If you remember, I was spot on 14 stone at my lowest weight and I think the potential of being so close to the 13 stone mark mentally threw me off - totally self sabotage.  I am currently 14 stone 10lbs which I definitely didn't want to admit but hey, these blog posts are all about he truth.  I do believe with the right mindset I can be down a good few pounds within the next week so I will see how I go, no promises but right now I'm living week to week.

I do often hear techs asking for cream shades so it's pretty good going having four new Shellac shades with no shimmer, my way of thinking is if I want shimmer I can add it.

Slim Down Sunday: Week 40

It's been another one of those weeks for me, you know, the type of week that rather than flying through the air enjoying my weight loss it's more like I'm being dragging across a broken glass covered floor.  It's okay, it's not the end of the world and as I always tell myself, all is not lost and I'm certainly not 19 stone 5 again, I just haven't progressed much to where I want to be.

This week has been somewhere between angelic and devil-like.  Some days I've managed to keep the treats to a minimum and get back into eating the things that I used like my beloved Heck Chicken sausages and then some days I might as well be injecting concentrated sugar into myself until I have a food coma.  It's ridiculous but recently I've just not had my mind in the right place.

That aside I do still try to bulk meals out with things that are low in calories like lettuce or mushrooms or something, it just fills me up a little more.

To be honest I have a lot on my mind at the moment, a lot planned and I'm just grateful to stay roughly the same weight considering I'm so much lighter than what I used to be.  I did eventually weigh myself on Monday as I hadn't weighed myself for the past fortnight and I had gained 8lbs.  Although this is a lot it didn't concern me too much as I knew that some of that was really temporary and could quickly be worked off if I behaved myself.

So... Weigh in and I am pleased to say that I am 4lbs down on that 8lbs gain.  As I'm now only 4lbs away from my lowest weight again I'm back a bit happier and it has spurred me on quite a bit.  I know that my focus has gone a little bit and at the moment I am still basically treading water but like I say, if I can keep my weight level until my head is back on it it's a bonus and even better if I can start losing fresh flab - wish me luck!

Slim Down Sunday: Week 39

Let's call this what it was, a week off plan again.  I struggled last week and once again I've not been on it again this week.  I've had all good intentions but I feel like the pressure I put on myself has worked against me and I tend to crack and go back into my old ways.   Every now and again I worry about losing my control over food again and ending up back at nearly 20 stone.  Now of course, worrying wont help matters and like I've said quite a few times, it's realising that I am actually in control of this is the thing that will make the difference.

This week has been somewhere between managing to just about stay within my calories and then most days I would then lose my control and binge eat.  I just think it's because I've gotten close to my next goal, hitting the 13 stone mark so I've started adding in a double dose of self sabotage to make things difficult for myself.

One meal I have been enjoying is actually a lamb dish which I don't typically like.  My friend Alex introduced me to Asda's Shepherd's Pie Rosti which is delicious and only 233 calories.  I did buy the fish pie from the same range at Asda but it was water and fairly disgusting to the point where as I just actually put it in the bin.

When I'm in the right mind set I don't even give unhealthy food a sideways glance but I can see that my mind isn't on it because this week I have found myself literally forgetting I'm meant to be losing weight which is absolutely terrible.

I don't want to make excuses for anything but any sort of emotion and I tend to crack and throw healthy eating out of the window and I truly need to pack it in.  I just need to focus on my goals and realise that this is within my grasp and capabilities.

As I've said from the start, this is my weight loss journey, I run the show so I decided to not weigh myself this week because there is literally no point, I know I've put on weight.  The truth is I couldn't have weighed in this morning anyway but I figured that I could get my focus back as of tomorrow morning and look to work off this temporary gain to reduce whatever it is by next Sunday.  Now these posts have always been 100% honest so I will tell you that I was going to consider taking Orlistat which was prescribed to me which I was at my heaviest and I still have quite a few tablets left.  They would be good as if you know their side effects, you get a terrible 'slap on the wrist' if you misbehave with them but as the day has wore on I have decided that I am strong enough to start fresh in the morning without them.  I am incredibly busy this week so I believe this will help me have a successful week.  I'm not going to say 'fingers crossed' or anything for this upcoming week but I shall be entering it with positivity, I have a bikini body to achieve (I'm joking really, those days are over but it would be nice!)

NOTD: Valentine's Nails

Once again my nails were chosen based on my mood.  I wanted something a little bit... well how do I say it without you spitting your drink out? a little bit sexy and valentines ish.  The truth is I adore red so any excuse to incorporate it, I will.  I love CND Shellac in Wild Fire but I decided to go for a newer favourite red which is Tartan Punk and worked everything around a black and red theme.

To create these nails I used:
  • CND Shellac in Tartan Punk and Black Pool.
  • Red holographic lined foil
  • Lecente Firework Glitter in Spark
  • MoYou London Bridal Plate 07

I love the combination I chose, you know when you just look as your nails and think 'ahhh that was exactly what I was going for' ?  If you want to see more NOTD posts - click here.  Don't forget to follow my Facebook Page for future posts and search for me on Instagram and Twitter - @liverpoollashes
