My Work: Pink, Silver & Grey

I've probably said this before but I particularly enjoy Rachael's appointments because she has the same taste in nails as me so I typically can make a few suggestions and find something she loves.

Rachael wanted a pale pink, silver and grey so we chose CND Shellac in Blush Teddy, Asphalt and Naked Naïveté with Lecente Fireworks Glitter in Spark.  After seeing my colour pops for my Top 15 Lecente Glitters video (click here) she fell in love with Naked Naivete with Lecente Spark over it.

I applied Asphalt to her thumb and ring finger (despite it looking black on the photo) Blush Teddy is on her middle and little finger and Naked Naïveté with Spark glitter in on her index finger.  I then mixed Spark glitter with top coat, drew the chevron on her little middle and cured it.  Finally I used Asphalt to add the centre triangle, curing and applying a top coat.

My Top 15 Lecente Glitters

I've been asked to do my top Lecente glitters for such a long time but every time I've gone to make a start on it I've always been waiting for their new collection to be released so that I can include them.  With the release of the new Glimente Collection and their new Autumn/ Winter 2016 Collection last week it was time to get deciding my favourites and put them into one video for you to see each one up close and why I love it.
liverpoollashes lecente top 15 glitters liverpool lashes beauty blogger scouser
Firstly if you're not familiar with the Lecente range they are all into different categories.  When you're helping a client choose a shade it's useful to know what each category will do to the colour underneath (as this point I feel like an advert but I'm just saying as I have learnt my lesson!)
Glimente is their newest category and it is a unique fusion of holographic pigment.  It's extremely fine like a dust with the flecks of holographic glitter.
So onto my video, originally it was going to be a top 10 glitters but I found it difficult to narrow it down and I wanted to make sure that I had pretty much each colour group covered.  It ended up being a top 15 glitters video with two honourable mentions because they're just so versatile.

I hope you've enjoyed this post!

NOTD: Blue Sparklies

I was filming my next You Tube video and I realised one of my nails had split so this meant the CND Shellac had come away with it.  I know this is totally princess problems but I didn't really have enough time to film the rest of the video therefore I didn't really have the time to switch up my nails but it had to be done!

liverpoollashes cnd shellac peacock plume lecente iridescent ocean glitter multi glitz sweetie pie

It was a case of grabbing whatever initially popped into my head and that was CND Shellac in Peacock Plume.  I then chose Lecente Multi Glitz in Sweetie Pie and sat down to throw it together in sort of fashion, I'm not going to even lie!  As I sat applying the base coat I then decided to use the new Lecente Iridescent in Ocean and figured I'd chuck it in somewhere.

Once I applied my two coats of Peacock Plume I used my fluffy brush to apply Sweetie Pie in a diagonal line from the top corner of the nail down to the opposite corner.  I then took the Ocean glitter and filled in the rest of the nail with that.  As Sweetie Pie is a multi glitz you can see the mix of glitter sizes throughout the centre and then it merges into the amazing blue and green sparkles of Ocean.

These nails are the type that you need to see in real life as it's a gorgeous combination.  I'm going to try and get a video of them to see if it captures all of the greens and blues, if I do it will be on Instagram and Snapchat

NOTD: Autumn Inspired Nails

As soon as September hits I start thinking about Autumn.  Of course it's nice to have the light mornings and the sunny evenings but I actually crave autumn where it cools down and I can wear long sleeves and snuggle up, it's my favourite season.  I think you can tell immediately when autumn hits and it takes me back to my school days and singing this song (click here.)

Anyway, if you follow me on Snapchat you'll know that I really brainstormed my colour scheme for what I wanted (snapchat is liverpoollashes.)  I pulled out all of my most autumnal shades both in CND Shellac and Lecente glitter and played around with combinations until I was happy.  In the end I chose CND Shellac in Faux Fur, Burnt Romance, Fine Vermilion and Grand Gala (limited edition) and paired two of the new Lecente holographic shades in Caramel and Orange with it.

Grand Gala is on my thumb and ring finger, Burnt Romance on my index finger, Faux Fur on my middle finger and Fine Vermilion on my little finger.  I then used the Lecente Orange glitter for a halo effect around my index finger and faded up from the tip of my ring finger and used the Caramel glitter to fade into around the cuticle area.

Although these aren't necessarily the colours I would choose I do really like their autumnal effect and it's really getting me in the mood for the cooler months.

My Work: Elegant Gold Nails

It seems weird to do a blog post with just two products but you know what?  Sometimes the simplest ideas gives the best results.

Val is a huge fan of having CND Shellac in Beau and then some glitter at the free edge.  It means that you can't really see the growth of her nails and they still look fresh until it's time to remove them for a new set.  I suggested to her the Lecenté Glimente collection is all of the shades apart from Impact have completely full coverage so they're perfect over any shade but cover the tips.  She chose Fierce,  they looked absolutely stunning and to be honest this literally took me no time at all to complete them as Glimente is so easy to work with.

Slim Down Sunday: Week 70 & 71

Finally I have made a breakthrough and I actually feel like I'm getting somewhere again!  For so long these blog posts have been a frustration for me as I knew I wasn't getting anywhere and I was pubically either staying the same or gaining weight.  Of course that's my business and I know that but I made my battle with my weight public so that I was accountable.

Thankfully for whatever reason I woke up on Tuesday and knew that I could do this again.  I weighed myself on my boyfriend's Weight Watcher scales and got straight back onto the wagon.  It's so crazy as within two days I felt so much better, a bit lighter and more comfortable again.  I absolutely love the feeling it gives me so I have no idea why I don't continue.

I have tried to make myself a little motivation collage on my home screen of my phone.  This has photos of me at my lowest weight last year, of my new found waist and if my gorgeous coat that doesn't currently fit.  I do think the visuals are helping.

So anyway, I am pleased to say that I lost 4lbs this week!  Onwards and downstairs back to where I was and beyond!

NOTD: Black, Nude and Fierce.

It feels really weird to write this blog post as I actually had these nails on literally a month ago but as I had chosen one of Lecente's new release glitters before the launch date I couldn't blog about it.

These are the nails that I wore for Sweet Squared's 10th birthday party in Leeds.  Being the typical female I am, I wasn't sure what to wear so I chose some staple shades and figured I would make it work.  The colours I chose were CND Shellac in Black Pool, Bare Chemise and Sugared Spice.  I also used a Yours stamping plate for my ring finger and Lecente Glimente glitter in Fierce.

I actually really enjoyed these nails but you can't truly appreciate them on this photo.  I mixed up the other hand so that it was a variation of this one because u was in the mood to not match...!

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Review: CND Pro To Go Bag / ZUCA Pro Artist Case

I've been meaning to do this review for so long it's ridiculous but I wanted to actually use it for a while, see how it held up being in and out of a car, travelling hundreds of miles with me so that it was a true review.
CND Pro To Go Bag ZUCA Pro Artist Case Review liverpoollashes liverpool lashes beauty blogger nail

I have filmed a video review of this case because to be perfectly honest with you, when I heard the initial price of it my budget was none existent.  I wondered if it was worth the splurge, if it would fit my entire CND Shellac and Lecente Glitter Collection (I basically have every single Shellac and nearly all of the Lecente glitters) and if it was actually practical to use.

I must point out that this case is normally available in the UK as part of a package with CND Shellac but when I bought mine it was on offer on it's own.  It may be available again singular at some point, it's just a case of keeping your eyes peeled with it but at the moment I can't see it available on the Sweet Squared website.  The good new is however, as it is branded Zuca, I believe you can buy a non branded version directly from them (and they do other brands like MAC Cosmetics, etc and just where it has the Zuca embroidery)

Here is my video review of the case, I have tried to be a thorough as I can with my thoughts on it as I know quite a few therapists have asked me would I recommend it so I hope you find it useful!

Lecenté Glimente Collection

Wow it's finally time to talk about the new Lecenté Glimente Collection that is due to be launched on the 19th September.  I know that this collection has been a topic for many nail techs since they saw the launch information and honestly they deserve it.

liverpoollashes liverpool lashes lecente glimente delirious fierce urban rapture trinket

Top row (left to right) Delirious, Rapture & Trinket.
Bottom row: Urban, Fierce & Impact

The Glimente collection is a unique fusion of holographic pigment.  The range is split into three different catalogue, silky, shiny and sparkly.
  • Silky shades are: Trinket, Delirious, Rapture
  • Shiny are Urban & Fierce
  • Sparkly just has the one shade currently, Impact

liverpoollashes liverpool lashes lecente glimente delirious fierce urban rapture trinket

The pigment means that they have amazing coverage with the exception of Impact as this has slightly larger chunks and therefore can be applied over any shade for a different effect.  The rest however could literally be applied over CND Shellac in Clearly Pink or Beau and you would not be able to see the nail plate below.

So far for me personally, Trinket and Fierce have been my most popular shades but honestly Fierce was chosen the mostly as clients fell in love with how it looked on my nails....!
liverpoollashes liverpool lashes lecente glimente delirious fierce urban rapture trinket

The application is really straight forward which I do show in the video that I have made for the Lecenté You Tube Channel below.
In a nutshell:
  1. Shake or stir your glitter.
  2. Apply your base coat cured
  3. Apply two colour coats, curing between each layer, cured.
  4. Apply the glitter using a patting motion only, patting and returning to the pot for more product if necessary.
  5. Gently sweep to remove any excess glitter.  Do not burnish it at all as this may lose some of the holographic.
I hope you've enjoyed this post!

My Work: JP's Nails

My good friend JP was going on holiday and wanted to come and get her nails done.  She's a nail tech herself but had decided to treat herself and have me do them instead.  She had looked up loads of different nail designs and had a rough idea of what she wanted as she's so familiar with CND Shellac.

She chose Mauve Maverick as the pink shade and then wanted silver sparkles so I decided to mix a few shades of silver for the ultimate sparkle.

Her thumb, middle and little finger has Mauve Maverick on it.  I used a mix of AB Swarovski crystals on her middle finger.  I applied Beau to her index finger and Silver Chrome to her ring finger.  I then mixed various glitters into a pot, Lecenté Spark, Silver Ultra Fine with CND Additive in Shimmering Silver.  I applied this mix all over the ring finger and faded from the tip of the index finger.  I have to say this mix was literally blowing my mind and JP adored it!

Focusing On: CND Shellac in Faux Fur

I feel a bit mean focusing on Faur Fur because it actually isn't a bad colour but in terms of me and my clients, it's a total dud.  No one has ever chosen it and I can't say I feel any sort of an urge to wear it myself.

liverpoollashes liverpool lashes focusing on cnd shellac in faux fur

As it's soon going to be Autumn and there's a definite switch where clients start wanting purples and oranges, there's certainly room in their hearts for a re-vamped Faux Fur so I'm put my new style experiment video together for you which will hopefully give you some inspiration.

NOTD: The Forgotten Nail Of The Day

So I'm sat here, the 10th September 2016 and I'm sorting out a very busy week in terms of my blog - I have so many exciting things planned and I clicked 'drafts.'  On the 6th April 2016 I did my usual basic outline of a blog post (the name, the photos etc) which I will usually then go back to and add the text and decide when I will post it.  Clearly on this occasion and I know why as I had a lot going on in my life at that time so that didn't happen but that's okay as you all can see it today instead, five months later!!

liverpoollashes liverpool lashes notd the forgotten nail of the day angel paper cnd shellac art basil wisteria haze digi-teal aqua-intenance lecente strands aqua capri

I don't even remember my thoughts on any of this, needless to say but here's what I used:
  • CND Shellac in Wisteria Haze, Digi-teal, Art Basil and Aqua-intance.
  • Lecente strand glitter in Aqua and iridescent glitter in Capri.
  • Angel paper in Crystal Paradise Shine (from ebay in a pack of different shades.)

My thumb and ring finger has Art Basil on it, my index finger is Wisteria Haze, the middle finger is Digi-teal and Aqua-intenance is on my little finger.  Capri glitter is on my thumb, middle and little finger and I know I loved that the different shades made Capri gave different effects.  I applied Aqua strands glitter to my index finger.  Lastly I cut up slices of angel paper and applied it to my ring finger which wasn't the easiest thing as you need to make sure its completely flat to the nail but this was my first attempt as it and I was pretty happy with it.

Focusing On: CND Shellac Vexed Violette

I find it quite shocking that there's CND Shellac colours in my collection that literally doesn't even cross my mind.  I never think of them and therefore, I never suggest them to clients so of course that means they have literally never been used.  This is exactly the case for Vexed Violette.  It's recently come to light that this shade seems to be no longer in production as the Sweet Squared catalogue says that there is limited stock.  For my sad little bottle I really want to get it used and into the mix of shades for my clients.
I've made so many "focusing on" posts  it I've now decided to turn those into videos in almost an experiment form, they're a little more informal and chatty and I show you the products I'm using with them and why I chose it.  Basically it's what I always did for these posts only now I'm filming it which I think is the best way because you'll be able to see every colour pop up close and how it catches the light that I just couldn't do in a blog post.

I am going to be filming a lot more often now so make sure you're following my Facebook page to keep up to date with new videos.

NOTD: Quirky Stars

Today was one of those days that took me a ridiculous amount of time to decide what I want on my nails which I appreciate is a total princess problem.  It was an embarrassing almost three hours of pondering (whilst doing other things, obviously!) because I just couldn't make a decision.  Usually I decent on a main colour, then pair it with one or two other shades.  From then on I'll pick foils, glitters or stamping ideas and then create whatever my mood decides for me.

My only feeling originally was purple as its now September but I know it's going to be warm tomorrow and it's been humid here in South Wales so I just didn't feel like purple was a good option at the moment for me.

Anyway, eventually I settled on a combination of CND Shellac in Digi-Teal, Bare Chemise, Safety Pin and a little Black Pool to outline the stars.  I wanted to stars as the rest of the nails are fairly plain.  Originally I had Lecenté Holographic Glitter in Turquoise ready to apply over the blue nails but I didn't want that to take away from the beauty of Safety Pin and the stars.

Slim Down Sunday: Week 67, 68 & 69

I kid you not, on Monday of this week I realised I didn't write my current fortnightly blog post.  I blame the bank holiday, it throws me completely off.

So what's new with me?  I'm still failing at weight loss.  Well not entirely failing but not losing anything else.  I'm still eating what I want, not enough to put on much weight but not enough to lose any.  Some days are better than others but I just can't get back into the mentality I used to have.

Most days I think about weight loss as I'm not as comfy as I used to be.  Every now and again I weigh myself and I just tend to keep at a steady weight at the moment.  I go through days that I feel huge and bloated and then others that I feel closer to how I was.

The craving to binge eat is more than it was whilst I lost the majority of weight so it's definitely a daily battle.  I continue to wait until something kicks me into starting this properly again, lose the extra weight I've put on and carry on down to where I want to be.
